Q.
WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME FOR ORDERS?
A. On a normal order of up to 500 items it's usually around 7-14
days. On a bigger job or something unusual that has to be outsourced
it's usually 3-4 weeks at the outside.
Q.
BUT I'M DESPERATE FOR MY ORDER! CAN YOU DO IT ANY QUICKER?
A. If you have a deadline we will do our level best to work to it.
If you have a deadline we just can't meet we will at least try to send
you some of your order. However, we're not miracle workers! Working
with musicians usually means things are always a bit last minute - I
know how things are, I've been in bands! Having said that, planning
a few weeks ahead makes our job a lot easier!
Q. I'VE HAD A CHEAPER QUOTE FROM ELSEWHERE
- WHY SHOULD I USE YOU?
A. Firstly, let us know what the quote is - if
we can possibly compete we will match the other quote. Did you know
that you can get a 10% discount by linking us on your website? Even
if we can't match the competitor's price, please bear in mind we pride
ourselves in our hands-on, personal approach - if you have an emergency
order, nine times out of ten we can accommodate. We look after our regular
customers.
Q.
HOW DO YOU PRINT YOUR T-SHIRTS?
A. We have three methods. The first is a conventional screenprint,
whereby a design is printed directly onto the shirt one colour at a
time. Each colour in your design represents one screen, and to set up
a screen there is a charge of £20. So, a one colour logo on a
t-shirt can be printed for £20 plus the t-shirt charge, factoring
to £1 extra per shirt. Obviously using this method a four colour
print is going to prove expensive unless you are getting quite a lot
printed.
The second method we use is known as sublimation printing. This method
uses a full colour photographic print which is pressed as a transfer
onto the shirt. It is quicker and easier than a screenprint, so if you
are printing at low volumes this method is ideal. However, the design
needs to be thought about differently to a screenprint, as any blank
space you have will be white rather than transparent. Therefore, a design
which is 'solid', or has a coloured background works best.
Last but not least is flexoprint, which is kind of the middle ground
between the two. Solid shapes are cut from sheets of special coloured
vinyl and pressed onto the garment - you know the lettering on football
shirts? That's the sort of thing we're talking about. It's not as versatile
as screenprinting when you're dealing with fiddly designs, but if you
have a text based design or a logo that can be reproduced as a simple
vector (line) graphic it is ideal. It is as hard wearing and vibrant
as a screenprint but there's no set-up charge on this. You can also
layer any number of colours using this method.
Q.
WILL I HAVE TO PAY A SCREEN CHARGE ON REPEAT ORDERS?
A.
No. Your screens are kept for up to a year after your initial order,
so a new order featuring the same design will not incur a new screen
charge. Therefore repeat orders are cheaper.
Q.
I'VE HEARD THAT SUBLIMATION PRINTS WEAR OUT AND FADE QUICKLY - IS THIS
TRUE?
A. The special paper
we use is not the same as the 'print your own t-shirt' kits you can
buy on the high street. The paper we use is a lot tougher and thicker
than that stuff, so it wears a lot better. Whilst it's true a sublimation
print is not quite as long lasting as a good screenprint, if cared for
a sublimation t-shirt can last for years - I have washed and worn some
t-shirts with these prints for five years.
Q.
ARE THE PIN BADGES 'PROPER' ONES?
A. Yes! They are the classic design made of
aluminium with a bronze pin.
Q.
HOW MANY COLOURS CAN I USE ON THE BADGE DESIGN?
A. Your design can be in full colour.
Q.
CAN I HAVE A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT DESIGNS WITHIN MY ORDER?
A. On a badge order of 100 or more you can
mix up to eight different designs at no extra cost.
Q.
I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE TEMPLATES - HELP!
A. Sorry, some of the files either are missing
or some people can't download them. E-mail
us and ask for a template to be sent out. If you are having
trouble fitting your design to our template, don't worry, just send
us your artwork and we'll sort it out at this end.
Q.
ARE THE STICKERS WATERPROOF?
A. The matt stickers withstand a certain amount
of rain/beer but are not waterproof. The glossy ones are much more resilient
and do wipe clean. The silver and window stickers are vinyl based and
pretty good, but we do not guarantee they will withstand a lot of water.
Q. HOW ARE THE SILVER STICKERS DIFFERENT FROM
NORMAL WHITE?
A. You need to remember that a normal picture
has a lot of white in it, so everything that is white in a normal print
is an area where no ink is used. Therefore think about your design in
these terms, so everything that comes out blank will be silver, usually
including skintones or anything of a very light colour. Try to make
designs bold and clear for the silver stickers, the simpler and bolder
the design, the better the overall effect.
Q.
HOW DO I PAY?
A. Payment must be pro-forma (in advance) unless
otherwise arranged with us. The easiest way is to use our online secure
server to pay via a credit or debit card. You can also pay by Paypal
(the address is patrick@planetboo.co.uk). Alternatively give us a call
on 01847 611777 with your credit card details. You can send a cheque
or postal order (payable to Planet Boo), but please be aware that we
don't begin an order until payment is received, so if you are in a hurry
best to pay by card.
